CURRENT WORK

Catalan Winter Bird Atles Coordinator. I joined the project in April 2006. My work consists in coordinating the different surveys, managing the data bases, writing the reports, providing analytical support and editing the book.

INTERESTS

These are focused on two main fields: the use of monitoring programmes to address the underlying causes of phenomena at the population level, and the generation of basic knowledge and tools on Neotropical ornithology. One of my mid term goals consists of fusing both lines for their application to Neotropical conservation.

My approach to research is based on first hand field experience in order to avoid, as far as possible, the imposition of the established theoretical framework on the observed phenomena; for instance, in the Neotropical case, to avoid the constrains that might be imposed by the theory specifically developed for the Holarctic. I am particularly interested in investigating the differences between both zoogeographical kingdoms, trying to provide answers in evolutionary and/or physiological contexts, not only ecological.

An additional field of my interest and dedication is the problem of credit distribution and contribution disclosure in scientific publications.
