Besides employing data gathered by its own methods, this atlas will also use data belonging to periodic censuses specifically carried out for certain groups of species, including waterbirds and steppe birds. A special effort should be made to gather all this information in the atlas. It also seems proper to use hunting statistics for species, such as the Woodcock and the Grey Partridge, which are difficult to detect during ordinary surveys, and, therefore, would largely remain underestimated. Finally, data coming from wildlife rehabilitation centers will be consulted.
In short, this Atlas is based on complex methods, design and coordination. The aim behind this is to maximize the sampling coverage (extensive and intensive) that, in principle, may be both time and collaborator independent. We believe that the chances to succeed and to achieve the objectives are reasonably high.
